Unboxing Review and Update

Intro
Hello all, this is David from Loisirs vers le soleil here to do a lightning quick review of Kinetics soon to be released 1/48 scale RCAF CF-18. This model commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Uh, this kit has yet to be released, so this is basically just a test run and we’re going to take a look at it and see how it looks.
Unboxing
I apologize for being in a rush, but I just realized that I left my stove on at home, so I got to get this done quickly. Uh, as you can see right away, this is not all the parts that will be included in the finished kit. Uh, this is basically just a taste of what’s to come. So, uh, first thing we got here, what looks to be the bottom half of the fuselage.
That’s right. Uh, I don’t believe I’ve covered any Kinetic kits in in any videos uh yet. So, um, their quality is quite good. Nice surface detail. Uh recessed panel lines and rivets. Very nice detail in the nose wheel bay. Uh this net sprue has the top half of the fuselage as well as the wings uh control surfaces. and the rudders again. Uh, very nice on this sprue. We’ve got some of the cockpit details like the instrument panel, the pilot seat, uh the uh sides of the seat, as well as uh one half of the nose. And uh my apologies, these are the rudders. Uh, what I showed you earlier is most likely the elevators, some parts of the landing gear.
Clear Parts
Lastly, we’ve got the clear parts. Basically, just the canopy and a few uh lights here and there. Now, from the looks of it, sadly, this canopy is the type that has that seam along the spine of it, which you unfortunately have no choice but to try and scrape that off, sand it, and then polish it smooth again. But perhaps that could just be for the test run and maybe it will be fixed for the final release.
Photo-Etch and Decals
And then lastly here, a small photo etch fret, which looks to just basically have some wires running through the wheel wells and stuff like that. Some radiators. Okay, almost done. Here we’ve got the decal sheet. Pretty large uh adorned with RCAF memorabilia plaid uh instrument panel decals as well as stencils.
Closer Look at the Instructions
And here’s the instructions. Just printed on paper with black and white. I’m not sure if they do color for the final release or not. So, everything starts in the cockpit with the pilot seat, control stick, rudders, instrument panel. Then you move on to the engines. Engines go into the bottom half of the fuselage. Then you start working on the nose. Not much to that. air intakes. Uh cockpit goes into the fuselage and then you attach the wings to the top half of the fuselage.
You have the option of having the wings extended or folded. Then the fuselages fuselage halves come together. Uh, ailerons go on the wings. Uh, wings to come together. I feel like we did this already. And yeah, before you know it, uh, rudders, elevators go on, canopy open or closed. uh landing gear and attaching some photo-etch here. And uh you have a pilot access ladder which looks like a mix of plastic and photo etch.
Colour Scheme
And then your color scheme, which I believe is only one option, and it’s just for the RCAF Centennial Demonstration Team of 2024. So that the color scheme looks to be uh a mix of uh grays, blues, and some white. And there you go.
David’s Conclusion
In conclusion, great looking kit, nice surface detail, and a color scheme that we can all get behind. So, to all you folks who have already pre-ordered this, uh, don’t worry, the wait won’t be too much longer. Since we got the production run, that means the final product is almost complete. And to all those who haven’t ordered it yet and are now intrigued, you can pre-order at Sunward Hobbies online or once it’s released, you can pick one up in our store.
Thank you very much for watching. Remember to like, comment, subscribe, follow us on our socials, and until next one, I got to get the hell out of here.
