A Legend Older Than the Realms Themselves

Across Fyreslayer lodges, ancient stone halls, and the sky-ports of the Kharadron, one name is spoken with reverence whenever the odds seem impossible. White-bearded, indomitable, and seemingly ageless, Grombrindal — the White Dwarf — appears when his people need him most, wielding his axe with the same certainty as the legends that surround him. This Warhammer Age of Sigmar anthology gathers one novella and seven short stories that together paint a vivid portrait of the Mortal Realms’ most enduring hero.

Eight Tales of Desperate Odds and Hard-Won Victory

Every story in this collection places Grombrindal at the centre of a crisis — against Kruleboyz, the Flesh-eater Courts, the Skaven, Blood Knights, Nurgle’s followers, Gloomspite Gitz, and Darkoath warriors. Each encounter is distinct in tone and setting, but all share the same beating heart: the duardin refuse to yield, and something ancient fights alongside them.

In The Best Laid Schemes, a newly crowned Warden Queen leads the defence of Horncrag against a Kruleboyz invasion with a mysterious ally at her side. White-Haired Daemon follows a relentless warrior who repeatedly thwarts the ambitions of the Flesh-eater Courts across a series of brutal engagements. Old White-Fur sees Skaven forces dismiss persistent rumours of a duardin spirit — until they can no longer afford to. This Rough Beast follows Grombrindal as he hunts down a coterie of Blood Knights one by one, extracting vengeance for his people. The Hunt for Whitebeard turns the tables as a Grey Seer receives a vision and dispatches a Deathmaster to end Grombrindal on the eve of battle.

All That Could Be Done follows a duardin War Surgeon guided by a peculiar warrior to save a wounded comrade while holding back waves of Nurgle’s corruption. Fire and Fungi sees the Fyreslayers face a vast Gloomspite Gitz horde, with Grombrindal and duardin ingenuity tipping the balance. Finally, An Oath of Redemption sees Grombrindal confront a Darkoath-summoned beast, clearing the way for a duardin mercenary to settle a score in single combat.
