The Story

Bree Jagdea thought her days as a hotshot fighter ace were over. After years of surviving impossible odds in deadly aerial combat, she’s found peace running supply missions far from the front lines. But peace never lasts in the 41st Millennium.

When enemy forces launch a devastating bombing campaign through the ruins of Vesperus hive city, the Aeronautica Imperialis desperately needs experienced pilots. Jagdea is dragged back into active duty and assigned to Circus 66, a squadron with a reputation for taking on the missions nobody else will touch. Their objective: execute precision dead-drops and lightning-fast interception runs through Vesperus’ claustrophobic rat runs, where crumbling structures and enemy fire create a gauntlet of death at every turn.

In this gruelling war of attrition, where the Imperial forces battle for control of the strategic Interceptor City, Jagdea must rediscover her edge. Can she outmanoeuvre enemy aces who’ve never known anything but war? Will her hard-won skills be enough when flying through twisted hive corridors where split-second decisions separate survival from annihilation? And even if she succeeds, will the psychological cost of returning to combat shatter what remains of her sanity?

Only Interceptor City is included in this listing.

Take to the skies with a double helping of high-flying Warhammer 40,000 fiction as the classic novels Double Eagle and Interceptor City by Dan Abnett return in paperback editions. Double Eagle finds the planet of Enothis on the brink of ruin as Chaos forces sweep across its beleaguered surface, and the elite fighter pilots of the Phantine XX are the only ones who can turn the tide – so long as they can avoid becoming the Chaos ace Khrel Kas Obarkon’s next kill tally.

Two decades after the events of Double Eagle, a veteran pilot of the Phantine Air Corps is forced out of retirement when the hive city of Vesperus comes under attack in the sequel Interceptor City. Bree Jagdea is none too pleased to be back in the fray after a cosy life piloting supply transports, especially now that she’s been seconded to the infamous Circus 66 squadron – notorious for their death-defying missions and lethal interceptions through Vesperus’ rat runs.

Interceptor City will be available to order in paperback next week.
