Description
LCVP Developed by Higgins Industries of New Orleans from a working vessel suitable for operations in the swampy areas of Louisiana, the Landing Craft, Vehicle and Personnel (LCVP) took part in major landing operations of the Second World War, not only in Europe, but also in the Pacific. His task consisted in poaching the large ships and the beaches, loading up to thirty men, light aircraft, and any other material that was necessary; Generally armed with two stern-mounted machine guns, it was powered by a 250hp Hall Scott petrol engine, or a 225hp Gray diesel. After the end of World War II, the LCVPs remained in service in numerous roles, took part in operations in Korea and in Indochina, and were retrofitted for civilian purposes in various parts of the world.
