This mixture blends several shades of gray, providing a varied, realistic look. In the real world, ballast holds railroad ties in place. Woodland Scenics’ realistic Ballast product is ideal for modeling train track ballast, but is great for modeling gravel roads, quarry scenes or freight car loads too.
It is available in several colors and sizes, so you can mix and match for a realistic effect. The product is lightweight and easy to use. The ballast is easy to secure to your track or roadbed with diluted craft glue or Scenic Cement.
The product is appropriate for all scales. The medium ballast represents 3″ to 4″ stones in HO scale.
