Description

Successor to the R33 Skyline GT-R

R34 GT-R In January 1999, the R34 Skyline GT-R (BNR34) was introduced as the successor to the R33 Skyline GT-R, which had established itself as one of Japan’s most formidable performance cars. Its power unit was the legendary RB26DETT, further refined from the version carried over from the R32 generation. Although its maximum output was officially limited to 280 PS under Japan’s voluntary horsepower agreement at the time, it produced 40.0 kg·m of torque, or 15.6 kg·m per liter, making it one of the most powerful Japanese production engines of its era.

The transmission was a 6-speed manual gearbox jointly developed with Getrag. Compared with the R33, the R34 was also designed with more compact dimensions, significantly improving its handling and overall performance. However, production came to an end in August 2002 due to stricter emissions regulations, bringing the R34 GT-R’s production history to a close.
