Launched in 1935, the Mercedes 170 V was a remarkable success. More than 100,000 vehicles of all types – saloons, coupés and commercial vehicles – left the Mercedes-Benz plants in Stuttgart by 1952 and the 170 V model was gradually developed into the Mercedes 170 VA.
