Description

The Leopard 2 A4 is a third-generation main battle tank developed by Germany, which entered mass production in 1985 and was gradually deployed to troops. The tank is equipped with a Rheinmetall 120mm Rh120-L44 smoothbore gun, capable of firing a variety of munitions including DM-series APFSDS (armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot) rounds and multi-purpose high-explosive shells. Paired with an advanced fire control system, the Leopard 2A4 boasts a high first-round hit probability among third-generation tanks. It’s in service with the armies of various countries, and it has seen operational deployment in Germany’s peacekeeping missions in Kosovo, Turkey’s military operations in Syria, and more recently, in the ongoing war in Ukraine.
