Leopard 2 Family’s Latest Achievement

The German Leopard 2A8 main battle tank is the newest variant in the Leopard 2 family, making its public debut in 2023 as an extensively upgraded evolution of the Leopard 2A7+. This tank has been specifically engineered to address the demands of modern high-intensity warfare and multi-domain battlefield environments, featuring comprehensive enhancements in protection, firepower, and digital systems. It incorporates new multilayer composite armor and mounts an upgraded 120mm L55 smoothbore gun, while its fire control system and target identification capabilities have also received simultaneous upgrades.

In terms of defense, the Leopard 2A8 comes standard-equipped with the European version of the Trophy Active Protection System (APS), integrated with phased-array radar and laser warning equipment, enabling effective detection and interception of incoming anti-tank missiles, rocket-propelled grenades, and similar threats. Additionally, the tank integrates a digital battlefield management system (BMS), situational awareness systems, and an auxiliary power unit (APU), significantly enhancing its multi-domain operational capabilities and battlefield endurance.

MENG will release TS-057 1/35 German Main Battle Tank Leopard 2A8 model kit. The assembled model will be 315mm long, 109mm wide and 108mm high.
