Performance Version of the Monte Carlo

The 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS was a performance-oriented variant of the Monte Carlo, produced as part of the fourth generation of the model. It featured a 5.0-liter (305 cubic inches) High Output V8 engine, delivering 180 horsepower, paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and a 3.73:1 rear axle ratio. The SS model incorporated sportier styling elements, including a front air dam, rear spoiler, and unique body graphics. It was built on the G-body platform, which was shared with other GM mid-size cars of the era. In 1987, Chevrolet produced 39,251 Monte Carlo SS units, including 6,052 Aerocoupe models, which featured a unique rear window design for improved aerodynamics. The Monte Carlo SS was marketed as a performance coupe, appealing to enthusiasts seeking a blend of style and power.
