Limited Edition 1/350 Japanese Navy Destroyer Yukikaze – Movie Collaboration Model

This exclusive Tamiya release celebrates the August 2025 premiere of the Japanese film “YUKIKAZE” with a specially packaged commemoration of one of history’s most legendary warships. The Yukikaze earned her place in naval history as “the Lucky Destroyer” – the sole Kagero-class vessel to survive World War II virtually unscathed.

Historical Legacy of a Legendary Warship

Built as the eighth Kagero-class destroyer in January 1940, the Yukikaze distinguished herself through some of the Pacific Theater’s most intense naval engagements. Her remarkable service record includes pivotal battles at Midway, Guadalcanal, the Mariana Islands, and Leyte Gulf, where she proved her mettle time and again.

The destroyer’s finest hour came during the desperate Ten-Ichi-Go operation in April 1945, fighting alongside the mighty battleship Yamato. While Yamato met her fate, Yukikaze’s crew heroically rescued numerous survivors and brought them safely home – a testament to both the ship’s resilience and her crew’s valor.

Evolution Through Combat

Witness the transformation of a sleek warship into a battle-hardened veteran. Originally commissioned with three twin 12.7cm gun turrets and two quadruple 61cm torpedo launchers, the Yukikaze underwent extensive modifications as the war progressed. Anti-aircraft guns bristled from her superstructure, and radar equipment changed her elegant profile into one of fierce determination.

Post-War Service and Legacy

After surviving the war, Yukikaze continued serving with distinction, first repatriating Japanese personnel and later joining the Republic of China Navy, where she remained active through the 1960s. Her remarkable survival story makes her one of the most celebrated destroyers in naval history.

Authentic Scale Model Features

This meticulously crafted 1/350 scale replica captures every detail of the legendary destroyer at 338mm length and 31mm width. The model represents Yukikaze in her final wartime configuration, bristling with the additional armament that gave her such a formidable appearance.

Superior Construction Details

The split-hull design allows for exceptional detailing of the ship’s riveted side plates and degaussing cables. Every surface tells the story of a warship built for battle, with authentic textures and proportions that bring history to life.

Premium Materials and Components

Metal anchor chains and propellers provide realistic weight and finish, while laser-processed machine gun parts deliver unprecedented sharpness and detail. These premium touches elevate the model beyond typical plastic kits into the realm of museum-quality replicas.

Interactive Display Features

Polycap joints enable full rotation of main gun turrets and torpedo tubes, allowing you to position the armament for dynamic display options. Whether depicting the ship at battle stations or in peaceful harbor, the model adapts to your vision.

Complete Display Solution

The included display stand transforms your completed model into an impressive full-hull exhibit worthy of any collection. Show off every detail from waterline to superstructure with professional presentation quality.
