Description

The F-4 Phantom II was originally conceived as a carrier-borne fighter for the U.S. Navy in the late-1950s but was eventually also adapted by the U.S. Air Force and Marines in addition to the air forces of many other countries. This model kit can depict the first variant used by the U.S. Air Force, the F-4C, as well the subsequently upgraded F-4D. The kit features a one-piece fuselage for easy assembly and die-cast metal landing gear legs to ensure a stable stance after the kit is finished. The canopy and air brake may be assembled in either open or closed positions. A wide range of ordnance, two crew figures, and three marking options are also included.

Assembly and painting required. Kit does not include model cement glue, paint, and tools. Adult supervision where required.

Contents subject to change. Price includes in store coupon.

My Tamiya McDonnell F4C/D Phantom II

I just completed my F4-C Phantom II. First time building this scale in an aircraft. I am very pleased with how it turned out, but there are a few fit issues with this model that you have to really pay attention to, but if you take your time & read the instructions a few times, it will work out.
Incredible detail in the Tamiya kit & very impressive. I made some mistakes building this, ( as I stated, my first large scale aircraft), but on the whole, very pleased. Thank you Sunward for all your support & accessibility to much needed paints & aftermarket parts. Looking foward to my next build.

Personal Choice vs. AMS (Advanced Modelling Syndrome)

Sometimes the desire to build the most accurate representation of a specific subject gives way to the long lost fun of just building what you want. The big Tamiya F-4's have some well known accuracy flaws, but even without resin accessories, and some simple modelling application, you get a large, "almost a Phantom", stunner that, for me, was a lock down fulfilling, stress relieving, joy.
